DRONE FILMING Company

Drone Filming for Film, TV & Commercials

Bad Wolf Horizon is an award-winning, CAA-approved drone filming company working with production companies, directors, DOPs and brands across the UK and EU. We fly the DJI Inspire 3 with RTK, we film in 8K RAW, and we turn up understanding how a shoot day actually runs. Our client list includes Apple, the BBC, Ferrari, NatWest, Range Rover and The National Trust.

If you need aerial filming that cuts cleanly into the rest of your edit, you're in the right place.

A drone filming company built around production

Most drone companies sell you a drone. We sell you an aerial unit.

That difference matters more than it sounds. On a live set, the aerial team is one small part of a much bigger machine, and the fastest way to lose a morning is to bring in an operator who doesn't understand call sheets, doesn't know how to work alongside a first AD, and hands you footage that won't grade against your A-camera.

We've spent more than ten years on productions where that isn't an option. We've flown Range Rover's TV commercial featuring Theo James. We've filmed for Ferrari, Apple and the BBC. We've worked at an active UK airport, filming air-to-air, which requires a genuinely eye-watering amount of paperwork (and is a lot of fun). We covered the arrival of Cosmic Girl at Cornwall Airport Newquay, and we did the R&D work to deliver an Oasis bottle from a drone.

So when we say we understand production, we mean we've been on enough of them to know where the delays come from and how to design them out before the shoot day.

Our Portfolio Speaks for Itself.

Aerial filming with the DJI Inspire 3 RTK

Our flagship aircraft for aerial filming is the DJI Inspire 3. With its X9-Air camera, full-frame sensor and range of DL lenses, it combines serious flight performance with a RAW 8K image that stands up against an ARRI Alexa.

The party piece is the RTK system — the first of its kind in any cinema drone. RTK is a super-accurate form of GPS that gives us millimetre-level accuracy in flight. This is a cinema robot arm in the sky.

But what does that actually mean for DOPs and directors?

It means perfectly repeatable flight paths. Fly the move once, fly it again identically an hour later, or a month later. That unlocks day-to-night transitions, high-end visual effects using motion control, and long-term construction and development sequences where every update needs to match the last one frame for frame. If you've ever tried to recreate an aerial move by eye, you'll know exactly how much that's worth.

The Inspire 3 flies at up to 94 kph in sport mode, handles winds up to 14 m/s, broadcasts live in 4K30, records to built-in CineSSDs, and carries 24 mm, 35 mm and 50 mm lenses for those helicopter-style shots. It is available as a dual operator setup, giving your director independent camera control while the pilot flies.

For lighter work, tighter locations or quick establishing shots, we also carry a range of DJI Mavic aircraft, including sub-250 g drones that open up locations the bigger aircraft simply can't reach.

Drone filming services and day rates

We work at full-day rates only, as a solo or dual operator depending on what the brief needs. Rates are on application — get in touch with your dates, locations and a rough idea of the brief and we'll come back with a straight answer, including whether you actually need the dual operator setup or whether solo will do the job for less.

Our drone filming services cover:

  • Film, TV and broadcast production

  • TV commercials and advertising

  • Brand films and marketing content

  • Property, development and construction progress

  • Aviation and aerospace, including air-to-air filming

  • Events, launches and arrivals

  • Visual effects plates and motion-control repeat passes

If your project isn't on that list, ask anyway. We film almost anything from the skies.
