INExeter & One Voice Media

This was a tricky drone shoot for us at the Bad Wolf Horizon team. Three things that drone pilots usually avoid:

  • Built-up areas

  • Night flying

  • Large crowds of people

That was the brief for the Christmas lights switch-on in Exeter, but of course, we were up for the challenge. Following on from a huge amount of pre-flight paperwork and risk assessments we worked closely with Exeter City Council to find two, safe take-off area, roped-off from members of the public. Using a range of long lenses mounted to our DJI Inspire 2, we could easily maintain our drone separation distance from people, buildings and vehicles.

To capture the exact moment the Christmas lights switched on from the skies, we flew two drones at the same time, both of which has superior low-light quality. Using two drone pilots and two drone spotters we were able to conduct the flight safely and capture some beautiful shots from above.

We delivered a short film and a set of high-quality aerial images to One Voice Media, which did exceptionally well on social media.
