APOLLO50 FESTIVAL

This project was one that excited us a lot. After our previous project with Goonhilly Earth Station, we were asked to create a couple of drone films for the Apollo50 event, set in the summer of 2019.

The Apollo50 event was hosted by Goonhilly Earth Station to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landings. Why Goonhilly? Because "Arthur" the satellite dish which towered over the festival, was the dish that delivered the live broadcast of the first men to walk on the moon to TVs across Europe.

We were asked to create a 360 virtual reality drone tour of Goonhilly Earth Station from the skies, which allowed us to show VIPs (including NASA employees) around the secretive site, in VR. We were blown away by the response of our VR video, but we were also asked to stay, to capture a 2D afterfilm of the Apollo50 event.

Below is our short film of the event, as the sun set over Goonhilly Downs and the party continued long into the night.

Testimonial

"Goonhilly Earth Station is normally closed for drone flying, but we invited the team at Bad Wolf Horizon to make some special drone videos for us... and the results were outstanding. Great work and great video editing as well as taking our particular technical flying requirements into account. Highly recommended.”

— Ian Jones, CEO at Goonhilly Earth Station
